WiSe 18/19: Introduction to Qualitative and Quantitative Social Research
Anne Nassauer, Christian Lammert
Comments
This seminar will provide and introduction to qualitative & quantitative social science research. We will discuss readings on key aspects of research design (research questions, case selection, opeationalization), on different techniques of data collection (interviews, participant observation, survey data, video analysis) and on different methodological approaches (qualitative content analysis, qualitative comparative analysis, sequence analysis, causal process tracing, regression analysis, mixed methods). The goal is that students leave the classes trained in basic research design aspects, equipped with a general overview over qualitative and quantitative social science data and research, and key conceptual, and methodological tools. close
