WiSe 18/19: Ü Advanced Neurobiology for Bioinformatics

Peter Robin Hiesinger, Mathias Wernet

Comments

This course provides an opportunity for Master students to explore the Bioinformatics-related questions and problems that are being studied in the division of Neurobiology, together with their collaboration partners at the Konrad-Zuse-Institut (CIP). Goals: Students will become familiarized with both the use and structure of state-of-the-art, custom written software for (i) automated image analysis (tracking of flying insects from camera footage; filopodial dynamics of outgrowing axon growth cones), (ii) quantitative paradigms for measuring behavioral responses (Drosophila virtual flight arena; flies or bees walking on air-suspended balls), and (iii) quantitative analysis of physiological responses from neurons (Optophysiology and electrophysiology). Format: Every afternoon will begin with an introduction (Lecture) by the Lehrveranstalter(in), providing the Scientific context necessary for understanding the experiments that will be discussed during the following Übung. Ccomputer-based analysis of experimental data previously been collected in the Labs will follow. close
