Husna Jamal
Comments
This course gives an introduction to the study and description of language. It provides undergraduate students with an elementary exposure to the various components of linguistics to prepare them for more advanced linguistic courses later. Throughout the semester, we will be discussing language on the different levels of analysis (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics). Although English is the primary language of investigation, references to other languages will be made as well, whenever relevant and appropriate.
Course requirements:
- regular attendance and active class participation
- weekly homework and reading assignments
- passing the final examination
