Kommentar
This course will focus on EU foreign and security policy with a special emphasis on the EU’s Southern and Eastern neighborhood. Through the EU Global Strategy (EUGS) fostering social resilience in the EU surroundings has become a cornerstone of EU foreign and security policy. The course will be concerned amongst others with the following questions: What are key challenges the EU faces in its Southern and Eastern neighborhood? To what extent can social resilience help to tackle those challenges? How can the EU as an external actor foster social resilience in its neighborhood? Countries of special interest to the course include Tunisia, Libya, Mali, Ukraine, and Georgia. Methodologically, we will cover both qualitative and quantitative approaches. By the end of the course participants will have better knowledge on EU foreign and security policy, particularly on the EU Global Strategy. Additionally, participants will be more familiar with the Southern and Eastern neighborhood and the challenges they pose to the EU. Finally, students will have gained knowledge on social resilience and its relevance for EU foreign and security policy. Schließen
