WiSe 19/20: Anthropology in Between Life and Death
Marcos Freire de Andrade Neves
Kommentar
There is a difference between life and death that matters.” Throughout history, anthropology has tried to understand the various ways through which people make sense of this distinction, often resorting to concepts such as animism, care, necropolitics, and, more recently, animacy. By discussing concepts such as these and focusing on ethnographic case studies, the course will explore cross-cultural forms of sociality between life and death, as well as the living and the dead.
