WiSe 19/20: (METH) Climate policies in comparative perspectiv

Berthold Kuhn

Kommentar

The Paris agreement has triggered a series of climate mitigation and climate adaptation policies at different levels. Across the world, international organisations, national and sub-national governments, cities and communities have taken actions to make contributions to the Paris agreement and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations. The first wave of scholarly attention on climate policies focused on global governance aspects and multi-stakeholder alliances to advance international agreements. More re-cently, national level policies and implementation challenges receive more attention. This course will look at specific challenges, strategies and policies of different countries, regions and cities and analyse potential and limitations of policies and actions promoted by different stakeholders, including governments but also the private sector and nonprofits. Students will learn about the political, economic and social complexity of policy-making in this field. Participants of this course are expected to actively involve themselves in group-work and submit an individual or joint presentation and term-paper. Days: Opening: Friday Oct. 18, 14-18 hours Friday 14-18 hours: Nov. 8, Nov. 15, Nov. 22, Nov. 29, Dec. 6 Saturdays: 14 to 16 hours: Nov 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 23 Closing session Friday February 14, 2020 Schließen
