WiSe 19/20: HS-Interfacing Linguistics+Literature: Narration and Visuality
Andreas Mahler
Comments
The seminar, which is offered in combination with the tutorial on ‘Principles of “Classical” Narratology’, will take a close look at the nexus between narration on the one hand and visuality on the other by analyzing literary descriptions as well as the technicalities of descriptive textuality from the eighteenth century up until today. Its main focus will be on questions of creating the illusion of visual effects through linguistic means, thus taking up recent discussions on textual effects of the visual in intermediality and visuality studies. Participants are invited to reflect on possible textual examples they would like to treat before the seminar begins. close
