WiSe 19/20: The Author in Arabic Literature
Isabel Toral
Comments
What is an author? What is a compiler? What is an anonymous text? What do we know about the social location of authors, but also of copyists? In this seminar, we will discuss concepts of authorship, compilation and authorship in the earlier Arabic literature, as well as questions of the author’s position in society. We will base our discussion on selected texts from the secondary literature. At the same time, we will include perspectives from medieval studies and recent literary studies. close
