Natan Alterman was one of the most influential Hebrew Poets before and after the foundation of the State of Israel. He wrote both political and lyrical poetry. He wrote both for children and for the theatre. Many of his poems were composed and sung by important Israeli pop-singers. In this course we will read and translate a collection of his songs that were composed, and we will also watch them in performance and with them consider his role in the Israeli popular cultural scene from the 1930s to this day.
