What does it mean to think sociologically? This proseminar is a basic sociology course (Orientation Module) for Bachelor students, a historical overview and a general survey of sociological theories. In this course, we will review the key sociological frameworks to get a grasp of sociology as a discipline. This module will also prepare the students for next semester’s applied sociology methods course. Each session will look into classical sociological themes and texts. Those of you attending the course only for participation credit must show that he or she can understand the course materials and are able to discuss it with your peers. This means that you have to attend and fully prepare for at least half of the sessions, and take the mid-term quiz, as well as response papers. Those of you who are looking to receive graded credit need to take an exam, as well as the quiz. I will expect you to have a strong understanding of the theories and methods of your topic of choice by the end of the semester. Schließen
