This course will explore the history and current trends of visual anthropology. Through analysis of discipline-defining ethnographic films and visual culture theories, we will discuss the potential of the camera as a research tool, issues of visual cultural representation, varieties of anthropological films, and ethical questions raised by the practice of ethnographic filmmaking. close
