This seminar will engage with photographic and filmic media representing the Middle East, including issues including the regional history of photography, Orientalism, colonialism, local cinema, and Third Cinema. Themes to be addressed will be decided through discussion with students. The course will include the synchronous online viewing of films, interspersed with discussions. Students will be graded based on the analysis of the films we view in relation to the articles we read. close
