WiSe 20/21: (S1) Franz Kafka and Judaism

Giulio Busi

Comments

The course focuses on Kafka's multifaceted relationship to Judaism. By means of readings from diaries, letters, stories and novels, the fascination of the great Praguers for Jewish theater and for the tradition of the Eastern Jews as well as his rejection of some aspects of assimilated bourgeois Judaism will be examined. The aim of the seminar is to define and perceive more precisely the hidden Jewish dynamics of Kafka's literary activity. close
