WiSe 21/22: S-Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures: Decolonising Africa
Cordula Lemke
Kommentar
Decolonisation is one of the key terms of many theoretical approaches on the state of African nations. Although thinkers like Mbembe play with the notion of the postcolony, postcolonialism as such is often questioned for its temporal indifference to countries that still suffer from the legacy of colonialism and for its embeddedness in a 'Western' canon of theory. By contrast, the term 'decolonisation' foregrounds theories along a South-South axis. In this seminar we will read a variety of theoretical texts that we will then interrogate by looking at literary texts and films.
