Kommentar

The seminar part of the course aims to familiarise students with the intersecting analogies of gender and diversity. It will briefly theorise gender and its intersection with variables like social class, caste, ethnicity, race, religion and location. This course uses a wide variety of digital reference material to understand normalisation of discrimination permeated through everyday processes. It provides an opportunity for the students to encounter and critically engage with the canonical works that engage with the questions of ‘other’,’stereo-typing’ and subsequent creation of spheres of identity. In this course, the goal is to understand why some bodies are more important than others and how discrimination interacts with gendered, racialised and sexualised bodies. We will also approach the question of identity creation and subsequent sense of belonging through frameworks of developmentalism, colonialty, decoloniality, subalternity, representation and agency. The larger aim of the course is to enable students to be reflective about the perspectives other than ‘theirs’. The course seeks to facilitate inclusion, understanding difference in a healthy way and chanelising the same for healthy outcomes. The ultimate aim of the course is to introduce students to wide array of cultural underpinnings other than the Euro-centric, for a smooth transition to professional eco-system. The course contains interactive teaching and learning elements. Most of the course would be based on short readings, audio-video inputs, podcasts, films. Language: English Schließen
