WiSe 21/22: V-Literatures of Medieval Britain: Medieval Antiquities
Wolfram Keller
Kommentar
The focus of this lecture will be the medieval reception of classical antiquity. After a short introduction to theories of periodization and temporalities, individual lectures will engage with the way in which medieval works responded to antecedent traditions, especially with a view to the Troy story – for example, the Laud Troy Book, Geoffrey Chaucer’s Troilus and Criseyde, John Lydgate’s Troy Book – and to narratives about Alexander the Great – for instance, Alexander A and B, Kyng Alisaunder.
