Kommentar

This course will take a deep dive into one of the most influential critical theorists of the neoliberal age. Indeed, Nany Fraser has a singular place in critical theory due to her time worn insistence that capitalism has a determining effect on how workers, women, and minorities experience oppression, the kinds of political demands that they make, and the obstacles to realizing justice in a post-socialist age. Fraser’s lasting legacy will have been to keep these discussions alive, push them further, and inspire a new generation. We’ll start with her early work on feminism, then engage her debates with philosophers like Iris Marion Young, Judith Butler, and Axel Honneth, and finally turn to her more recent theory of capitalism.
