WiSe 21/22: Contemporary Trends in Postcolonial IR
Tobias Berger
Comments
This is an advanced theory seminar. It explores contemporary tends in postcolonial theorizing within the field of International Relations by way of close readings of seven to eight recent monographs (e.g. works by Adom Getachew, Sundhya Pahuja, Rahul Rao, L.H.M. Ling, Meera Sabaratnam, and Audrey Alejandro). While primarily focussing on postcolonial contributions in the fields of international security and international law, the selected readings aim to provide a broad overview over recent trends in postcolonial thinking within the discipline. Five of the monographs are fixed by the course provider; the remaining books will be selected based on our seminar discussions and I would like to encourage all students to make suggestions for titles within the field of postcolonial IR that they would like to read with the seminar groups. close
