Conflict structures in modern societies are constantly changing. Driving forces such as globalisation, technological change, migration or changing values are responsible for this. This seminar will look at some of these trends from a contemporary diagnostic and empirical perspective. Is there really a shift of social conflicts away from the tension between capital and labour? What new cleavage structures can be observed? What role does the changed socio-structural composition of society play in this, and what role does generational change play? The seminar will attempt to gain an overview of recent debates and research contributions and to critically analyse them. close
