The course will introduce the basics of research design as the cornerstone of academic work. It will provide a brief overview of epistemological and ontological choices, quantitative and qualitative approaches in political science research, developing hypotheses and making descriptive and causal inferences. With a focus on matching an appropriate method to your research design, commonly used qualitative methods including case studies, content analysis and process tracing, along with data collection tools such as interviews, archival analysis, and secondary literature reviews will be discussed. close
