WiSe 21/22: Reading Marxian Theory
Markus Kienscherf
Information for students
Hybrid course, starts as in-person teaching transmitted online; if the need arises it will go online completely. Even though this class will be taught in a hybrid format (both in-person and via Webex), I would prefer as many students as possible to participate in-person. If need be, I will revert back to a virtual format (via Webex). close
Additional information / Pre-requisites
Course 32611-W21 is for all students of MA North American Studies, course 32611a-W21 is for all students of MA Sociology
Comments
In this seminar, we will critically engage with Marxian theory. We will spend about half the seminar on Marx’s own critique of political economy, particularly his first volume of Capital. We will then move on to more recent critiques of and developments in Marxian theory. This will be a very reading-intensive course, so please be advised that if you wish to take this course you should be willing and able to do the required work. Our reading of Capital will be based on the Penguin edition. close
