Advanced Seminar
WiSe 21/22: S-Literatures of Medieval Britain: The Matter of Rome
Wolfram Keller
Comments
This aim of this seminar is to familiarize students with the medieval English reception of the so-called ‘matter of Rome’, primarily, that is, with texts retelling the Troy story or the life of Alexander the Great. Following a few introductory sessions concerned with literary-historical questions, we shall read Geoffrey Chaucer’s Troilus and Criseyde and (excerpts from) Kyng Alisaunder. close
