This is the second course in a two-course sequence that surveys Semitic languages, including their classification, and an introduction to Semitic studies as a discipline. This term, building on our knowledge from the first semester, we will focus on Hebrew and Aramaic inscriptions, emphasizing
the shared linguistic background and literary features in these inscriptions. Students will gain experience and methodological awareness about applying both philological and linguistic methods to ancient Semitic texts through this course.
