The seminar looks at the heavy metal subculture in the context de-industrialization and cold war politics of the 1980s. In particular, in focuses on the transnational connections that allowed this new social movement to emerge into a phenomenon of global reach. The seminar’s first part will be devoted to theoretical and methodological basics regarding social history, music history and transnational history.
