WiSe 21/22: S-Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures: Postcolonial London
Stephan Laqué
Comments
Politically and geographically London may be one city - culturally it is a dazzling amalgam of social, ethnic and national identities. London is certainly no less haunted by the rich and problematic legacy of Britain's colonial past than Mumbai or Melbourne and this course will look at four novels which register this influence. Please purchase Sam Selvon, The Lonely Londoners, Hanif Kureishi, The Buddha of Suburbia, Zadie Smith, White Teeth and Nirpal Singh Dhaliwal, Tourism. Please read Sam Selvon's The Lonely Londoners for week two of the semester. close
