This seminar explores communication as a variety of material, mediated and embodied practices. Taking an expansive approach to communication, we will ask questions such as: what are narratives, and how are they transmitted through time and space? How do we relate to one another in entangled ways? What might a material itself be telling us? And how do we sense and pay attention to stories that have been subordinated or suppressed? 

We will work with a wide variety of textual, visual and aural resources, including work by Ursula Le Guin, Anna Tsing, Susan Schuppli, Tuan Andrew Nguyen and Akram Zaatari.
