WiSe 22/23: Ecolinguistics
Antje Wilton-Franklin
Kommentar
This seminar introduces students to the field of Ecolinguistics, a critical approach to study the ways we think and talk about our natural environment. Mental concepts, the so-called stories-we-live-by, manifest themselves in the way we use language, and ultimately influence our actions. We will explore the various fields of application of ecolinguistic research by conducting small empirical studies. Furthermore, the seminar offers the opportunity to discover ecolinguistic discourses beyond our immediate social and political context: for about four weeks, we will team up virtually with a class from the University of Minnesota Duluth (USA) in a collaborative online international learning unit (COIL), in which we will jointly investigate environmental discourses in the public sphere. The seminar will be offered in a blended format. Schließen
