Kommentar
The course aims to introduce digital practices to be applied in humanities research and in Semitic studies in particular, by presenting methods for the creation of standards-compliant digital resources with XML and TEI. The final objective is to provide students with the fundamental skills to build their own digital resources, with a special focus on digital editions and e-lexicography, addressing both text encoding and front-end matters. The application of standards will also be discussed alongside license attribution.
Students will work on a project to be developed across the course.
Classes will include hands-on sessions to practice the methods learned, using the XML editor oXygen.
Main topics: Introduction to XML and TEI; Standards-compliant creation of digital linguistic resources; XML/TEI markup for scholarly digital editions and e-lexicography; XSLT for transforming XML. Schließen
