SoSe 17: Introduction to US Economic History
Jonathan Fox
Kommentar
This course will give students an introduction to American economic history from colonial times to the late 20th century. By analyzing case studies, students will gain a better understanding of various economic theories. Examples include the determinants of American economic growth, the Gold Standard, the Great Depression and the New Deal, the shift from Keynesian demand management to Reagonomics, and the development of economic inequality. Throughout the seminar we will aim to apply economic reasoning to historical questions using empirical approaches and discussing their limitations. The seminar will be taught in English. Coursework includes a final exam (60 min), response papers and presentations. A detailed schedule and a list of required reading will be provided via Blackboard. Schließen
