Kommentar
This seminar explores the intricate entanglements of the religious and the urban. It provides students with a thorough understanding of how relations between the sacred and the city have historically been conceptualized. It further focuses on a variety of themes that are relevant for the anthropological analysis of religion in the postsecular city. These include practices of (gendered) religious place-making, the governance of religious diversity, and the affective-sensorial and material presence of religion in urban space. Finally, the seminar involves students’ practical and empirical engagement with the multiple material and discursive manifestations of religion in the urban life of Berlin. Schließen
