SoSe 21: Inequality and Redistribution

The course will discuss the phenomena of rising income inequality in the United States. We will discuss how the state can redistribute income via the tax and transfer system in order to reduce inequality. Thereby, the specific character and the redistributive capacity of the US welfare system will be discussed in detail in a comparative perspective. In the final part of the course we will discuss the political implication of rising income inequality and what can be done to change the situation. Schließen
