SoSe 21: PS-Surveying English Literatures: Romantic Poetry
Stephan Laqué
Kommentar
The Romantic period may be seen as stretching from the French Revolution of 1789 to the Reform Act of 1832, or from the Enlightenment to industrialized Modernity, or to be sandwiched between Classicism and Victorianism. But the age is rich in continuities which link it both to its past and to later developments. This seminar will address the poetological and philosophical background of the age and cover a broad range of canonical poems from the era. I recommend buying one of these two anthologies for the course: Duncan Wu (ed.), Romantic Poetry, Oxford. 2002 or Jonathan and Jessica Wordswoth (ed.), The Penguin Book of Romantic Poetry. London, 2001. Schließen
