Content & learning objectives
This seminar focuses on recent developments in experimental economics. Each weak, students are required to read one recent article or research paper that we will then critically discuss in class. Emphasis will be given to the choice of the research question, the experimental design, and the data analysis. Students develop familiarity with the design and use of experiments as a method for economic research. Students will be able to critically assess experimental economics research articles with respect to research question, experimental design, and empirical analysis.

- Master Economics, Vertiefungsbereich (6LP)
- Master Public Economics, Schwerpunktbereich Markt und Staat (6LP)
Entry requirements & prior knowledge
It is recommended that participants are familiar with fundamental concepts of causal inference and data analysis.
Registration
Interested students should send an email to jana.friedrichsen@hu-berlin.de until April 9, 2021. In this email, students should briefly describe their previous experience and their motivation to take part in the seminar. This information will not be used to select students but will influence the choice of papers for the reading list. If applications exceed course capacity, a lottery will determine the seats.
Exam: To obtain course credits, students have to submit 3 one-pagers (not graded) throughout the course and write a final referee report (ca. 10.000 characters).
