‘Let’s be diverse’ - Diversity and Inclusive Pedagogy in the ELT Classroom
Diversity is a reality in most English as a foreign language classrooms in Berlin and elsewhere as teachers and students come to the classroom with increasingly diverse cultural, social, and linguistic backgrounds. The aim of this course is to raise participants’ awareness of diversity in today’s classrooms by looking at a broad variety of diversity issues, including, among many others, lifestyle choices, gender, sexual orientation, social and cultural background, and learning difficulties. Closely related to this, the course focuses on analysing as well as adapting teaching and learning materials for the English as a foreign language classroom.
