Kommentar
This course will offer a comprehensive study of a number of key events and periods in world economic history that have shaped the current state of world systems and institutions. The geographic coverage of historical events will stretch from USA to Western Europe and their former African colonies. The topics to be discussed are chosen to elaborate on the deep roots of economic development. These will include a variety of historical experience on the process of industrialization, development of democratic institutions, inequality, population growth, human capital, conflict, health and globalization. Along these lines, the course aims at introducing students to more general themes in economic history, as well as help them become familiar with the methods most commonly employed. Schließen
