SoSe 21: Kulturelles Gedächtnis: Eine Einführung in die vormoderne iranische Literatur und Schriftzeugnisse
Shervin Farridnejad
Comments
The seminar addresses the topic of ‘cultural memory’ (German: ‘Kulturelles Gedächtnis’) as an identity-establishing tradition that essentially feeds national identity in Iran. This repeatedly reshaped ‘tradition’ has been handed down for millennia and over generations and served as the main mean to shape the Iranian historical consciousness and self-perception. At the same time, it is a concept that attempts to understand how the transmitted tradition determines people's view of the world and their attitudes. The seminar offers insights into the pre-modern Iranian literature and the written testimonies that manifest itself as the decisive mode of appearance of ‘cultural memory’ in texts, images and rituals. close
