[Q]uantum information, [Q]uantum optics, and [Q]uantum many-body theory
meeting in the Berlin-Brandenburg area
We schedule regular informal meetings on topics of quantum information theory - including abstract and mathematical work - quantum optics in theory and experiment, and ramifications in quantum many-body systems, including strongly correlated systems.
It is the purpose of these meetings to foster a local community in the Berlin-Brandenburg area (U Potsdam, TU Berlin, FU Berlin, HU Berlin, Paul-Drude-Institute, Wissenschaftskolleg) on the above fairly wide range of research areas, to identify possible areas of joint work, and to keep members updated on new directions of research and novel results. Quantum information science is meant to be the link and joining element between the above research topics. The range of possible topics is deliberately kept quite wide for the first meetings; focus areas will then be discussed.
The meetings are meant to be informal. Brief reports on unfinished work, on open questions, or on promising research directions are highly encouraged. Blackboard talks are just as much encouraged as powerpoint or keynote presentations are. Reported research does not necessarily have to be own research: Reviews on relevant topics are highly welcome as well. People giving talks are warned that the level of expertise on a given research topic may vary within the audience.
Everybody is welcome. We plan to keep the format informal, and to schedule sufficient time for informal blackboard discussions in small groups. Also, the meetings will regularly be ending in a respective local pub. close
