      WiSe 12/13: Environmental Governance
Charles Elworthy
Comments
This course will provide a broad analysis of key issues in environmental governance and assess how they apply to a range of specific issues.

The course will begin by using the author’s concept of “Homo biologicus” to provide a theoretical foundation of the fundamental factors linking human psychology, human behaviour, and environmental consequences. This approach will be linked to more specific economic, political and legal challenges associated with environmental governance.

This theoretical framework will be applied to understanding critical environmental issues associated with climate, energy, and agriculture. A variety of market/decentralised; state/centralised; and hybrid governance solutions will be examined in the context of these specific fields.
