1. Contents: This practical course concentrates on cellular oncogenesis, cell adhesion, molecular clocks and prion disease. It leads the participants from simple cell culture techniques to genetic modifications of cellular systems and ultimately to tracing molecular events within living cells with state of the art techniques. 2. Literature: Books: "Molecular Biology of the Cell" by Alberts et al. (5th, 2007, Garland Pub, ISBN 978-0-8153-4106-2), "Molecular Cell Biology" by Loish et al. (6th, 2007, Freeman, W.H.&Co, ISBN 978-0-7167-7601-7) and recently published journal articles reviewed in the accompanying seminar (21 624b). 3. Further remarks: Required for admission is the successfull participation in the accompanying lecture and seminar "Molecular Cell Biology" (21 624a/b). Each participant is required to prepare at the end of the practical course a written protocol in English language- 4.
