WiSe 17/18: Multinational Enterprises, Investment Policy and Sustainable Development
Feroza Sanjana
Kommentar
Combining international relations with international political economy, this course aims to provide an introduction to the nature and evolution of multinational enterprises (MNEs) in light of historical, political and economic developments. Special emphasis will be placed upon the changing role of foreign investment in the history of international development thought, in particular on intellectual currents in the Global South in the early 20th and 21st centuries until today.
The course will provide an introduction to political and economic theories of MNEs and an understanding of the (political) activities of MNEs as non-state actors. It will then examine the linkages between multinationals and sustainable development, with a focus on policy issues concerning the operations of MNEs. Finally, it will provide a rich grounding in the politics of international investment law and the various actors involved. Schließen
