This introductory course looks at China’s environmental development and challenges with a focus on the post-Mao era. It aims to enable students to gain an understanding of different environmental issues and critically discuss concepts of pollution, degradation and sustainability. Cases will highlight key moments and debates in China’s pursuit of green transformation that exemplify the complex dynamics of socio-environmental change and its stakeholders. Course materials and mandatory reading will be provided in English, the language of instruction/in-class debate will be German." Schließen
