      WiSe 19/20: Global Governance
Mareike Kleine
Kommentar
Distances on a world scale are shrinking through the emergence and thickening of networks of connection – a process commonly referred to as globalization. The process is far from complete, with some regions like Europe being highly integrated and other regions lagging behind. Globalization produces discord and requires effective governance beyond the nation-state, that is, processes and institutions, both formal and informal, that guide and constrain the collective activities of groups. What does globalization look like? How does global governance work (or does it)? How can we design effective global governance institutions? How do we ensure that these institutions remain fair and legitimate? Is the European Union a model of globalization or a cautionary tale? Schließen
