This includes research institutes, archives or libraries as well as the most important encyclopedia, print and online journals and online journal collections, databases, specialized search engines etc. The aim is to not only provide the students information in what sources are important, but also how they can be made use of. In the course’s second part, socio-scientific studies on Korea-related topics are analyzed. The focus lies on understanding how socio-scientific studies are constructed, in order not only to be enabled to better grasp and overlook existing literature, but also to be able to implement a reasonable methodological strategy when writing one’s own thesis. To that end, at the weekly analysis of socio-scientific papers not only the structure of the essays but also the logical and conclusive linkages between the individual structure elements are reconstructed and subjected to a critical scrutinization. At the same time student are made familiar with diverse quantitative and qualitative procedures in the social sciences. In addition, in a series of focus meetings central elements of socio-scientific writing are dealt with intensively. In the third part of the course based on the skills acquired during the semester students present individual analyses of socio-scientific articles to apply and deepen their knowledge.
