WiSe 20/21: Managing Global Commons in Historical Perspective
Nadin Heé
Comments
How to manage global commons – jointly own land or sea, or other resources such as forests, fish, or outer space – is a widely debated question in the international press today. The enclosure and privatization of global commons are often seen as the major contest of our time in political, material, ecological or economical terms. This course will look at the historical trajectories of these debates. We will consider the commons as an idea, an ecological space, an economic abstraction, and a management practice while addressing historiographical and methodological questions. close
