Lillian Cicerchia
Comments
This MA course will do a deep dive into socialist feminism, focusing on the themes of labor, care, reproduction (both biological and social), and the family. It will proceed chronologically in the history of socialist theorizing about gender oppression, starting with Marx and Engels, proceeding to the Second International (1989-1916), then focusing on the Second Wave feminist debates regarding dual systems theory (1966-1983) regarding dual systems theory and colonialism, ending with the present revival of socialist feminism in social reproduction theory.
The seminar discussion will be conducted in English. Texts will be provided in English and German and, if they prefer it, students can write all course assignments in German.
