We will cover topics such as the history and stages of Arab migration to Germany; reading of German-speaking "Arab" authors; Arab culture in Germany; feelings of home, identity, language, orientalism; why do I study Arabic Studies; reflection and self-reflection in practical exercises.
Learning Objectives: Students broaden their horizon of experience and knowledge in dealing with questions of identity, language and culture in the context of migration to Germany. They are able to express themselves in different forms, both essayistically and in other media such as podcast, scenic play, performance. The module opens up possibilities for the participants to connect to their studies of Arabic Studies in the current social discourse. close
