WiSe 22/23: Introduction to the Classical Persian Poetry
Khanna Usoyan
Comments
It is generally accepted that the "golden age" of Persian classical literature began at the turn of the ninth to the tenth century, when the first written works in Farsi (Dari) appeared. This seminar focuses on the development of the literature in the classical Farsi language that emerged after the Arab conquest of Iranian lands, and what is considered as one of the greatest literary heritages of the world. The course is intended for undergraduate students of Iranian philology, but also for all those who specialise in the study of Middle Eastern and Near Eastern literatures. Participants will study the main genres of Persian classical literature and read the original representative texts of a variety of Persian poetic genres. The seminar is offered in German in the frame of the Bachelor program. close
