WiSe 22/23: Arts and Visual Culture in the Ming Dynasty

Das Seminar gibt einen Überblick über die Entwicklung der chinesischen Künste, des Kunsthandwerks und der visuellen Kultur der Ming-Dynastie, die knapp dreihundert Jahre von 1368 bis 1644 umspannte. Der Schwerpunkt wird dabei auf der frühen Ming-Dynastie liegen. Im Fokus wird zum einen der Kaiserhof in Peking stehen mit der Erbauung der Verbotenen Stadt und der kaiserlichen Gräber, und der Akademie für Malerei, zum anderen Suzhou als wirtschaftliches und kulturelles Zentrum in der Yangzi-Region. Neben der Malerei jener Zeit werden Kalligraphie, buddhistische Kunst, Architektur und Keramik behandelt. Dabei werden wir uns auch häufig mit Objekten aus der Sammlung des Museums für Asiatische Kunst beschäftigen. close
