Maaike Groot, Elke Kaiser
Comments
In this course, we will explore the potential of stable isotope analysis for archaeology. We will start by discussing the various isotopes that are used and the information they can provide. We will look at methodological issues and problems with interpretation. We will then look at case studies for various themes that can be explored through stable isotope analysis, such as diet, mobility, animal husbandry and crop husbandry. We will end by looking at a few exemplary case studies that integrate multiple isotopes and/or combine stable isotope analysis with other strands of archaeological research. close
