Colloquium
WiSe 22/23: Homo ludens: Menschen und ihre Spiele in der Vergangenheit
Elke Kaiser
Information for students
The other part of the module, the Kurs, will be held in the summer term 2023.
Comments
Games and their accessories belong rather to the rare archaeological find categories. However, early finds prove that humans have played games for pastime and other reasons from the very beginning. In the seminar we will deal with various games that have been archaeologically proven, as well as with the fundamental cultural studies book by J. Huizinga, who tried to determine the play element of culture. The seminar serves as a preparation for the practical course in the next summer semester, in which we will prepare games and background information on them for the Lange der Wissenschaften, which today are known only to archaeologists.
